On October 15, 2008 the Lawrence County Board enacted an ordinance
to establish the Lawrence County Emergency Telephone System Board
as the Addressing Authority of Lawrence County. This is in
accordance of Illinois Statutes (55ILCS 5/5-1067) (from Ch. 34,
par. 5-1067). This ordinance also adds provisions for the
numbering of buildings and dwellings.
All structures in Lawrence County have been GPS located and incorporated
into a GIS mapping addressing grid. For those structures outside
of a municipality, the system generates a unique address every 5.28
feet making it possible to assign an address to every structure
in the county, including future home or business construction.
All structures inside the corporate limits of a municipality utilize
the current postal service traditional block addressing system.
